d3wrestle.com has been in operation since 2007. This will be our 17th season as the internet’s only website solely focused on NCAA Division III wrestling. As the new season begins, I am asking for your support. If you find this site valuable, please consider either a one-time contribution or ongoing monthly payments. Use the links below to give.
Here are the initial d3wrestle.com rankings for the 2023-2024 NCAA Division III wrestling season. A few notes before diving in:
The Honorable Mention and Contender sections are in alphabetical order and should each be considered as as group.
Once competition begins, wrestlers will be ranked at the weights where they actually compete.
There are no freshmen or non-DIII transfers in this first list.
We invite any information about wrong weight classes, misspelled names, missed individuals that should be considered, and anyone who is not wrestling or is not competing until later in the year.

Jason Estevez has been elevated from assistant to head men’s wrestling coach at NJCU. Former head coach Harry Turner stepped down earlier this fall to take a role as head coach and assistant AD at St. Benedict’s Prep. Estevez spent the 2022-2023 season as the top assistant and lead recruiter at NJCU. Prior to his time with the Gothic Knights, he was an assistant at his alma mater Livingston High School from 2020-2022.
Estevez was a four-year starter at 141 and 149 for the University at Buffalo, graduating in 2019 with a degree in sociology.
Former Ferrum wrestler and assistant coach Paul Biggs has been named the first head coach for Randolph College Men’s Wrestling, the school announced Friday. Biggs coached at Ferrum from 2016 to 2018 and again briefly beginning this summer before taking the position at Randolph. He was a 2016 NCAA qualifier at 149 lbs. and a two-time regional placewinner. Biggs also was the head coach at Morehead High School in North Carolina before his second stint at Ferrum.
Randolph will begin competition next year as a member of the Old Dominion Athletic Conference. The school of around 500 students is located in Lynchburg, Virginia and will join fellow ODAC members Averett, Ferrum, Roanoke, Shenandoah, and Washington & Lee along with associate members Greensboro and Southern Virginia in competition for the 2024-2025 season.
The Empire Collegiate Wrestling Conference has been dissolved, and the SUNYAC will now sponsor men’s wrestling as an eight team league. Full SUNYAC members Brockport, Cortland, Oneonta, and Oswego will be joined by associate members Ithaca, RIT, St. John Fisher, and Utica. Seven of the eight schools competed last season in the ECWC with Utica entering its first season of competition this year. Penn College and Alfred State also competed in the ECWC. Alfred State is part of the AMCC and will remain a full member of that conference, while Penn College has joined the AMCC as an affiliate member in men’s wrestling.
Pennsylvania College of Technology will join the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference as an affiliate member in men’s wrestling for the 2023-2024 season. The Wildcats join full AMCC members Alfred State, Penn State-Behrend and Pitt-Bradford along with affiliate member Hiram. Penn College will compete in the AMCC Championship tournament this season but will not participate in conference duals until 2024-2025. Penn College had previously been part of the now-dissolved Empire Collegiate Wrestling Conference.
Starting in 2024-2025, the AMCC will have six men’s wrestling schools, as current AMCC school Penn State-Altoona is set to begin wrestling next year.
Peter Jacobson has been named Head Wrestling Coach at Assistant Athletic Director at Hunter College. He comes to the Hawks after 21 seasons coaching Edgemont High School in nearby Westchester County. He replaces Nicholas Coco, who had led the team since 2021. (Update 10/4: Coach Coco will remain with the team and coach alongside Jacobson.) At Edgemont, Jacobson coached 15 New York state placewinners, three state champions, and eight Section I Wrestlers of the Year.
“He brings a wealth of wrestling and leadership knowledge, along with a ‘can-do attitude. As a former NYC firefighter, he demonstrates teamwork, tenacity, safety, and facing the unknown with confidence. He also brings two decades of high school coaching experience, with local, regional, and national connections in the wrestling industry, which will serve him and the athletic department well.” – Terry Wansart, Hunter College Director of Athletics
