Season Outlook:
Wartburg returns five All-Americans and six qualifiers from its 2016 NCAA championship team: Arnulfo Olea (125, 5th), Connor Campo (133, 7th), Kenny Martin (two-time defending National Champion at 149), Eric DeVos (174, 2nd), Bryan Levsen (184) and Lance Evans (285, 3rd). The Knights will have some new faces in the lineup replacing the three NCAA finalists who graduated in Drew Wagenhoffer, Nick Michael, and Gerard Roman.

Some major milestones are on the table this season for Wartburg are: the opportunity to win its unprecedented 25th consecutive (and 35th overall) Iowa Conference Championship, a record seventh-straight NWCA national duals titles and 11th overall, a fifth-straight NCAA Central Regional title and the programs 13th NCAA Championship, which would be its ninth in the last 12 years. Wartburg has also won 188 consecutive duals against IIAC opponents, a streak that dates back to 1994.

Two-year starter at 141, junior Kaz Onoo, will be out for the year with a season-ending surgery. Sophomore Cross Cannone will be the front runner for his replacement as he returns from an outstanding freshman campaign.

Season Outlook:
Eight starters return from last years winning team. Wesleyan has added a quality freshman group into needed weight classes which will help bolster the line-up. Following his football season, Devon Carrillo will be a national force at 197 in his 2nd season on the mat and looks to be on the national podium in March. Isaiah Bellamy made a late season change to HWT last year and has put on 30+ lbs. of quality mass which will bode well for him now as a legitimate heavyweight. A young, but talented, lightweight group is looking to make their mark after having quality mat-time experience last season. The Cardinals are looking to have another winning dual season along with a stronger, successful finish at both the Northeast Regional and NCAA Championships.

Season Outlook:
Cortland brings back a solid group including a few wrestlers who are returning from injury to contribute to the lineup. Season Outlook:
The Polar Bears return 13 lettermen and 9 starters from last year’s squad that posted a 11-10 dual meet record. ONU has posted nine consecutive winning seasons and has finished with more wins than losses in 44 of the program’s 51-year history. With high levels of talent and experience returning on the roster, combined with a solid incoming freshmen class, it is easy to see why optimism abounds in the ONU wrestling camp. “We are excited about the upcoming season,” Head Coach Ron Beaschler said. “Our goal each season is to win the OAC title and we feel that we have the talent to compete for that. This season we have great upperclass leadership along with an excellent freshmen class that we feel can help us get to the next level.”

Season Outlook:
Castleton starts their first wrestling season with 33 wrestlers. Lead by some veterans Zak Hale, Jared Costa, Nolan Viens and Cameron Milliken (all have college wrestling experience), the freshman-loaded team will look to make some noise as the season progresses. First year Head Coach Scott Legacy looks to transition into the college scene after a successful high school career. Steve Forrest brings a very succesful international career to the Spartans, while Joe Duca adds All-American experience at the D3 level from his days at Ithaca college. The team is young, hard working, talented, and looking to improve with each match. Hale looks to lead the team with his experience and leadership skills.

Season Outlook:
Springfield College wrestling team is ready for an exciting season as it pursues its 1000th dual meet victory. Springfield will become the 4th NCAA program to accomplish this feat. After the loss of national qualifiers Tyler Keane and Jake Benedict, the team will rely on a mix of solid veterans as well as a group of young talented transfers and freshmen. Springfield College will have one of the toughest schedules they have wrestled in recent years. The squad will be competing at the Ithaca Invitational, Doug Parker Invitational, Petrofes Invitational hosted by Messiah College, NWCA National Duals and the Budd Whitehill Duals hosted by Lycoming. Springfield College will certainly be battle tested come post-season.
