Defiance College to Add Wrestling

Defiance College LogoDefiance College, a Division III school in Defiance, Ohio, has announced a search for a head wrestling coach. The school intends to begin competition in the 2018-2019 season and will become the third school in Ohio to add wrestling for next year, joining Ohio Wesleyan and Wilmington. Defiance is in the northwest corner of Ohio and has around 600 undergraduates. The Yellow Jackets compete in the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference. Manchester and Mount St. Joseph are the other HCAC schools with wrestling teams.

Head Men’s Wrestling Coach – Defiance College

Defiance College, an NCAA Division III institution and member of the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference located in Northwest Ohio, invites applications for the position of Head Men’s Wrestling Coach for a start-up program to begin competition in 2018-2019. Responsibilities will include all duties normally associated with being the head coach of an intercollegiate wrestling program including, but not limited to, recruiting, coaching, budget management, organization of training, practices and competitions, academic monitoring and other duties as assigned.
Candidates must demonstrate significant knowledge of wrestling, proven success in coaching wrestling at the collegiate or high school level, the ability to recruit, develop and motivate Division III student-athletes, a strong commitment to the academic success of student-athletes, knowledge of and commitment to all NCAA, HCAC and institutional rules and regulations, good communication skills, and strong leadership. A bachelor’s degree (master’s preferred) and valid driver’s license are required.
