The first d3wrestle.com/WWSport.com Wrestler of the Week for 2012-2013 is Kris Krawchuk of Wilkes University. Wrestling at 149 lbs., Krawchuk won all three of his matches at the John Reese Duals. All three of his opponents appear in the latesd NWCA Rankings. He opened the day with a pin over #10 Craig Montgomery of Centenary and followed that up with a pair of decisions over Troy Sterling of Cortland (#5 at 157) and #5 Henry Stauber of Johns Hopkins. His record for the year is now 7-2.
Krawchuk, a junior from Slatington, Pennsylvania, placed 4th in the season opening King’s Monarch Invitational before his big weekend last Saturday. He was not on the Wilkes roster last season, but posted a 13-8 record in 2011 at 157 and a 23-11 record as a freshman at 141. Now that he is settled into his natural weight class, he should be poised for a big season. Wilkes next takes to the mat on Friday against Elizabethtown and Saturday at the East Stroudsburg Open before taking the week of Thanksgiving off.
