Season outlook:
After two straight second place finishes at the NCAA Mideast Regional, the Mount Union wrestling team hopes the third time is the charm in 2014-15.

Three is the number for the Purple Raiders as third year head coach Bill Schindel – a three-time All-American himself at Mount Union – returns three national qualifiers from a year ago in junior Jeremy Border and seniors Jon Garrison and Bryant Roby.

A year ago, Border won 31 matches at 133 pounds on his way to an NCAA Mideast Region title third place finish and All-American honors at the NCAA Championships.

Garrison won 38 matches – third most in a season in school history – at 157 pounds with an NCAA Mideast Region title and a sixth place finish as an All-American at the NCAA meet.

Roby finished third at the NCAA Mideast Regional with 20 wins at 141 pounds last season.

Other key returners include seniors Ben Kazimir at 149 pounds, Nick Hendershot at 165 pounds, Chad Zeigler at 174 pounds, Brent Kirk at 184 and junior Lucas Dies at 197 pounds.

A competitive schedule awaits the Raiders with tournaments in Pennsylvania, Florida, the NWCA National Duals in Ft. Wayne, Indiana along with hosting three events – the Mount Union Invitational, Mount Union Duals and the Mount Union Open.

The season opens with a dual match against Thiel on November 12 in Greenville, Pa.
