Wrestler of the Week: Peter Del Gallo

Del Gallo is undefeated with a pair of first place finishes

The d3wrestle.com Wrestler of the Week is Peter Del Gallo of Southern Maine. Del Gallo won the Roger Williams Invitational last weekend and punctuated his victory with an overtime decision over Jay Albis of Johnson & Wales, the defending NCAA Champion. Prior to the finals, Del Gallo picked up a pair of falls to win as the second seed. For his efforts, Del Gallo moved up to #2 in this week’s NWCA rankings. He was also named NEWA Wrestler of the Week.

Del Gallo, a junior from Gardiner, Maine, is undefeated on the year with an opening dual meet win to go along with his Roger Williams championship. He is a 2018 NCAA qualifier and two time regional placewinner for the Huskies. He was 40-3 as a sophomore and 34-3 as a freshman. His career record is now 78-6. He was the NEWA Rookie of the Year as a freshman. Prior to college he compiled a 208-5 record for Gardiner High School and won a pair of New England championships. His older brother Daniel Del Gallo was an NCAA champion in 2017 for Southern Maine, a path Daniel is aiming to follow. Del Gallo and the Huskies next wrestle Saturday at Springfield’s Doug Parker Invitational.
