Season outlook:
Head Coach Ron Headlee and top assistant John Yates rebuilt the Waynesburg team after taking the job three years ago. The rebuilding job is over, and now the Yellow Jackets are looking to be nationally competitive. The return of suprise 4th place finished Alex Crown will surely help, as will a strong sophomore season at the other end of the lineup from NCAA qualifier Brandon Fedorka. The team brings back six other starters, headlined by 34 match winner LUke Lohr at 149. Sam Lombardo won 25 matches at 165, while Alex Evanoff was 16-6 before an injury ended his year. They will compete for the starting job, though one of them could end up moving up to 174. Among the newcomers are former Seton Hill starter Cameron Fine, also in the 165/174 mix, as well as numerous other state qualifiers and placewinners. Waynesburg has a new wrestling room, a tough schedule, and an experienced lineup. They will definitely be in the hunt for a Midwest region title.
