Position SummaryThe position of Assistant Wrestling Coach/Associate Lecturer will hold a 100% appointment at the University of Wisconsin – La Crosse. This is a split position with 50% of the appointment in the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics, reporting directly to UWL’s Head Wrestling Coach, and the other 50% appointment in the Department of Exercise and Sport Science, reporting to the department chairperson.

The Assistant Coach will assist in the management of daily operations of Division III intercollegiate wrestling program competing in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference, with responsibilities including, but not limited to, assisting in the planning, recruiting, coaching, developing, implementing, and administering of the wrestling program to meet University and Department objectives. They will also be responsible for various administrative tasks associated with running an intercollegiate wrestling program, potentially including, but not limited to, theplanning of team travel; managing equipment and/or video and technology needs; and coordinating camps. The Assistant Coach must conduct themselves in such a way as to enhance respect for the university, the Department, UWL wrestling program and UWL student-athletes.

The Lecturer, under the general supervision of the department chair for Exercise & Sport Sciences, is responsible for teaching undergraduate and/or graduate courses. In addition to preparing for and holding classes [face-to-face, hybrid, and/or online], teaching involves maintaining currency in the content area related to the teaching assignment, evaluating students’ work, assessing student outcomes, maintaining appropriate records, and holding office hours. In addition, workload may involve advising students and/or providing other service to the department. Other duties may be assigned by the chair or dean.

Required QualificationsMaster Degree in Exercise and Sport Science, Sport Management, Physical Education or closely related field.
Master’s Degree by start of date of position.
Wrestling coaching or playing experience at high school, club, or collegiate level.
Possess a valid driver’s license.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.Ability to foster a cooperative work environment.
Preferred QualificationsKnowledge of NCAA Division III and WIAC rules.
Experience working with diverse populations.
Collegiate coaching or playing experience.
Collegiate recruiting experience.
Previous teaching experience at university and collegiate level in exercise and sport science, sport management, or physical education
