Season Outlook:
Wartburg returns five All-Americans from it’s history making 13th 2017 NCAA championship team: Cross Cannone(141, 2nd), Logan Thomsen(157, 2nd), Eric Devos (174, National Champion), Kyle Fank (197, 5th), Lance Evans (285, 4th).

The Knights will have some new faces in the lineup replacing two time All-American’s Arnulfo Olea at 125, Connor Campo at 133, Andrew Steiert at 165, two time National Champion and three time All-American Kenny Martin at 149, and All-American Bryan Levsen at 184.

Some major milestones on the table this season for Wartburg are the opportunity to win its unprecedented 26th consecutive (and 36th overall) Iowa Conference Championship, a record eighth-straight NWCA national dual title and 12th overall, a sixth-straight NCAA Central Regional title and the programs 14th NCAA Championship, which would be its 9th in the last 11 years. Wartburg has also won 196 consecutive duals against IIAC opponents, a streak that dates back to 1994.

DEPARTMENT:                  Athletics and Recreational Sports
SALARY RANGE:               Per contract

The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford has a vacancy in the position of Head Men’s Wrestling Coach. This is a full-time, 12-month position that reports to the Director of Athletics and Recreational Sports, Bret Butler.

Duties: This position is responsible for managing all aspects of the men’s wrestling program and is expected to identify, evaluate, and recruit student-athletes who can be successful academically and athletically at the NCAA Division III level. The head coach will exemplify a strong commitment to the academic achievement of student-athletes and to their success on the field. Responsibilities include planning, programming, directing, supervising, and implementing the duties and functions of the men’s wrestling program while adhering to Pitt-Bradford, AMCC and NCAA rules and regulations. The head coach must work closely with all others involved in carrying out the philosophy and objective of the intercollegiate athletic program.

Requirements: bachelor’s degree required, master’s preferred; three years’ successful collegiate coaching experience at the NCAA Division III level; and knowledge and commitment to NCAA Division III philosophy and rules. The successful candidate must demonstrate a proven aptitude for coaching as illustrated by a strong work ethic, organizational skills, computer skills, and the ability to interact professionally within the department, the campus, and the community.

Season Outlook:
Springfield College wrestling eclipsed the 1000th dual meet victory mark in 2017, becoming the 4th NCAA program in all of collegiate wrestling to accomplish this feat. The Pride graduated national qualifier Zach Joseph and regional placer Geovanni Medina but returns two-time national qualifier Hunter Ayen, regional placer Ian Tolotti, scholar All-American Joe Fusco, and five other starters from the 2017 Regional Championships who will look to make their mark in 2018. Springfield has also brought in a solid group of talented young freshmen and transfers. Springfield College will wrestle a competitive schedule that will help them as they will compete at the Ithaca Invitational, Doug Parker Invitational, Petrofes Invitational hosted by Messiah College, and the Budd Whitehill Duals hosted by Lycoming. Springfield College will certainly be battle tested when it comes time for Cleveland, Ohio in March.

Season Outlook:
Eight starters return from last years winning team. Carter Armendarez defeated the 5th seed at NCAA’s, but fell just short of being an all-American. Devon Carrillo is focusing on wrestling for the first time in his career after having played 4 seasons of college Football. Isaiah Bellamy has a full year of competition at HWT under his belt and looks to compete and be on the national podium this year. The Cardinals are looking for another winning dual season along with a stronger, successful finish at both the Northeast Regional and NCAA Championships.
