Concordia-Moorhead Preview
Concordia-Moorhead
Head Coach: Matt Nagel (2nd season)
Career Record: 15-5
Assistant coaches: Phil Moenkedick (1st season), Nick Magee (3rd season)
2013-2014 Dual Meet Record: 15-5

Returning National Qualifiers and All-Americans: Jacoby Bergeron (133), Jake Krogstad (165), Sebastian Gardner (174)
Season outlook:
Concordia-Moorhead’s 2014-15 season will fall under the old football cliché “next man up”. The Cobbers return six wrestlers from last year’s team that finished second at the NCAA West Regional and set a school record for most dual wins. Unfortunately Concordia will have to replace four of the seven athletes who qualified for the national meet. The Cobbers have had “the next man up” step up for four straight seasons as they have finished in the top 15 at nationals for four consecutive years.
Concordia returns six starters from a team that went 15-5 in dual meets in 2014-15 and advanced to the championship match of the prestigious NWCA national Duals Meet. The solid six who return to lead the Cobbers are Gabe Foltz (125), Jacoby Bergeron (133), Yonas Gebreab (141), Jake Krogstad (165), Sebastian Gardner (174) and Delson Saintal (197).
Concordia hired two-time Division III national champion Phil Moenkedick as an assistant coach in the summer. His familiarity with the program and ability to relate to the athletes trying to get to the next level will help head coach Matt Nagel give more 1-on-1 instruction inside the room during practices on a daily basis.

Carey, a senior from Ithaca, Michigan, has been on the team at Alma since the program was resurrected for his freshman year, and he is a four year starter for the Scots. He has a career record of 51-43 and has been at 149 for his entire career. Carey and Alma next compete at the Hatcher Duals at Ouachita Baptist College on November 14th.

Season outlook:
Coming off Whitewater’s back to back best seasons, the Warhawks look to improve again this year. The team has had some success and coming short of the goal is what drives them. With new head coach, Ned Shuck, and a group of good freshman the goal hasn’t changed. There are some leaders that have had success and want more, so they will need to bring the young guys with them. The Warhawks have a competitive schedule that let them see a lot of good competition through the year to get them ready for the post season.

In order for the Falcons to achieve similar success a mix of veterans that have been waiting for their chance to break the lineup and an eager group of freshman will have to step up to fill the gaps left by 5 graduating starters. Kaleb Loht sets out to try to become the program’s first ever two time National Champion and Josh Thomson will drop down a weight class to 174 this season.
