MyHOUSE Wrestler of the Week: Joey Gaccione

The MyHOUSE Wrestler of the Week is Joey Gaccione of Johnson & Wales. Gaccione went 3-0 to lead the Wildcats to a 2nd place finish at the New England Wrestling Association Headlock for Hunger Duals this past weekend. He was the only wrestler on his team to win in all three matches and knocked off the #1 and #7 wrestlers at 157 along the way. Against Williams in the semifinals, Gaccione recorded a third period fall against #1 ranked Jorge Lopez, and then in the finals, Gaccione earned a 15-0 technical fall againsts #7 Tyler Herzog of Roger Williams. For his efforts, Gaccione was named the Most Outstanding Wrestler at the event.
Gaccione, a senior from High Point, New Jersey, transferred to JWU from North Carolina State for the 2013 season. He is currently 12-6 after putting up a 37-10 record last year in a season that saw him place 4th in the Northeast Regional. He is now ranked 9th in the latest MyHOUSE/d3wrestle.com Rankings. Gaccione and the rest of the Wildcats take on Rhode Island College in the Providence Rivalry on Friday before hosting the Wildcat Open on Saturday.
