Mike DeRoehn steps down from UW-Platteville

After seven years at UW-Platteville, head coach Mike DeRoehn has stepped down to begin a career outside of college coaching. The school has been engaged in a search for a new head coach since late April. The following post is on the UW-Platteville Wrestling Instagram and was written by current assistant Dan Olsen.

Hey Pioneer Nation, it is with a heavy heart we say goodbye to Head Coach Mike DeRoehn, and wish him well as he pursues a life outside of college coaching.

Pioneer Wrestling has benefited significantly from his 7 years of committed time, effort, and passion!

Coach DeRoehn has created a culture of excellence that extends beyond the mat and has impacted each graduate for the rest of their lives.

The effect of this culture has seen the exportation of well-rounded men out into the world, who have continued to express this excellence in themselves, through their careers, families, and communities.

Every graduate from this program has left with a career in hand, and numerous applicable life lessons.

We cannot thank Mike DeRoehn enough for all he has done for this program and can’t wait to see how he positively impacts his next community!
