Outlook:
Lots of new faces will be in the Red Dragon line-up this season.  We will be young and hungry.  Good quality from top to bottom will help Cortland hang on to last year’s Empire championship.  New weight classes for Colagiovanni (moving down to 125) and Sterling (moving up to 141) will finally get them away from one another.  Both are seniors looking to finish with a big year and have been training hard all summer.   Carl Korpi will be back at 197 this season.  He had a great year beat some of the top guys in DIII until Sottile won the wrestle off and went on to become an All American.  He could be on the verge of a big year.  He will face very tough completion in the room form last years starting 184-pounder Jared Myrhberg.   Jared struggled with the weight last season and looks much fresher coming into this season.  Sean Kempf was 3rd in the ECWC at 125 last year and might look to move up to 133 to battle a few tough freshmen for the spot there.  We return very good back-ups returning at 157, 165, 174, 184 for last year.  They were close to starting last year and will get their chance now.  They will be challenged by some new comers as well.  149 has three good kids that will battle in Junior John Cataldo and freshman Jake Beichner and Transfer Andre Berry.  Berry was an NAIA national qualifier and Beichner was a NY state Qualifier.  It will be an exciting battle.  Two new heavyweights will anchor the lineup this season.  Transfers’ Corey James and JTrenton Jones will comtend here.  James was a NY State HS runner up and JUCO AA and has lots of college experience and Jones was a talented high school wrestler coming to us after a stint at a local JUCO as well.
