The College of New Jersey leads the pack at the Mideast Regional. The 9th ranked Lions will benefit from #7 Stevens moving to the Southeast Region which opens up some spots in the top three. Ithaca and RIT are 17th and 18th in the latest team rankings and will also be strong contenders here. Each of the three teams mentioned has a pair of returning 2019 All-Americans with RIT’s King the highest returning finisher after placing 2nd last season. Brisman of Ithaca was the champion at 141 in the 2018 NCAA tournment.

There are five 4th place finishers from last year’s region back in 2020, and four are looking for their first trip to the NCAA Championships. Ortega (TCNJ, 125), Sherman (Muhlenberg, 149), Garda (TCNJ, 165), and Fratantoni (Muhlenberg, 184) are hoping to make it at least one step higher on the regional podium to earn a spot in Cedar Rapids. Colom (Ithaca, 133) was a 2018 qualifier who just missed last season. All but Garda are seniors looking to make one last splash.
