Wrestler of the Week: Cody Lovejoy

The d3wrestle.com Wrestler of the Week is Cody Lovejoy of Ohio Northern. The 285 lb. wrestler had a busy weekend, wrestling in both the Roger Williams Invitational and the Washington & Lee Duals on consecutive days. On Saturday, he won the Roger Williams Invitational in impressive fashion, pinning his first four opponents before winning 8-2 in the finals over Lance Moore of Cortland, a 2014 NCAA qualifier. On Sunday, Lovejoy dominated the opposition at Washington & Lee, picking up three more falls in duals over Huntingdon, Johns Hopkins, and the host Generals. That gave Lovejoy a total of seven falls out of eight victories on the weekend.

Lovejoy, a senior Pharmacy major from Lima, Ohio, placed 7th at the NCAA Championships last year and was a 2013 NCAA qualifier for the Polar Bears. His career record is now 109-35 with 64 falls. He also won the NCAA’s Elite 89 award given to the participant at the national tournament with the highest GPA. Lovejoy and the rest of the Polar Bears travel to North Carolina for a dual meet at Davidson College on Sunday at 10am.
