The ARC, CCIW, and OAC kicked off their conference schedules this past weekend, and a few other teams got matches in as well. Unfortunately, several scheduled events were postponed or canceled as schools grapple with the ongoing pandemic.
Of the three ARC tri meets scheduled for this weekend, just one went off entirely as planned. Buena Vista picked up wins over Simpson and Nebraska Wesleyan, while Simpson topped NWU in the other match at the event. Wartburg won 9 of 10 against Dubuque in a dual that was missing Luther, and the third scheduled tri with Loras, Coe, and Central was canceled. The conference schedule continues next weekend with another slate of three ARC tri meets.
In the CCIW, matches went off as planned. Concordia (WI) swept four duals at home to start the season, and Carthage picked up their first win since 1994 in their return to wrestling. Wheaton was 3-1, while MSOE picked up a pair of wins. In the other CCIW match on Sunday, North Central swept three matches, while Millikin and Augustana each picked up wins.
In the OAC, the quads became tri meets as each event had one team bow out. Stanley Bleich helped Baldwin Wallace to a 2-0 day as he picked up his 100th career win and defeated the #1 and #3 ranked wrestlers at 157. Over at Ohio Northern, the Polar Bears won twice, though Heidelberg did win a pair of individual matches against ranked opponents. Muskingum and Mount Union sat out this weekend with hopes to return for the next event.
Lastly, Averett and Huntingdon traveled to NAIA Allen for a tri. Both defeated the host, and Averett topped Huntingdon 39-10.
Matches at Ferrum and Manchester were postponed.
