Only two starters are gone from last year’s turnaround at Waynesburg.  After winning two matches total in the previous three years, Waynesburg got a new coaching staff and jumped to a 10-4 record.  Coach Headlee and Coach Yates capitalized on long high school coaching careers in the area to build up the roster quickly.  The result was a winning season and two NCAA qualifiers.  Three placewinners from the region return along with the talented Byerly who missed the postseason with an injury after compiling a 14-3 record.  The schedule is beefed up this year with matches against Pitt (where Headlee’s son Ethan wrestles and his other son wrestled), Columbia, and Eastern Michigan.  This year, Waynesburg will be looking for their first All-American since Shawn Whyte.
