Roger Williams Preview

Roger williams typically has a large squad, and this year is no exception, as they start the year with 55 wrestlers.  With those numbers comes good depth and experience, as RWU has 16 wrestlers who have won at least 17 matches in a season.  Tops among these is NCAA qualifier Jared Czarneski, the NEWA runner-up at 174 pounds.  Another qualifier who returns to Roger Williams after two years on the Ohio State bench is Zack Weinrick.  Weinrick made the All-America round at 184 in 2006, but he is up at 285 in 2008-2009 for the Hawks.  Dan Woods was also an NEWA runner-up in 2008 at 197, though he did not get a wildcard bid to the NCAA tournament.  He matched Czarneski’s 28 wins last season.  Three other NEWA placewinners from last season are also back among the 9 returning starters, and a total of five 20 match winners will take the mat for RWU this season.
