National Duals and Weekend Wrestling

0

The NWCA National Duals start today at 11am Eastern time from the UNI-Dome in Cedar Falls, Iowa. 23 Division III teams will compete for the title. Top-ranked Augsburg leads the pack and will be favored to repeat as champions. The bracket on TrackWrestling is difficult to follow. The first seven duals are separated out into one-off brackets called Division III Prelim and are numbered 1-7. If you select a prelim bracket, it will show you where the winning team will go in the full bracket. The full bracket currently shows byes that will be filled by prelim match winners. One hopes this will become more clear as the matches happen and the brackets are filled.

Wrestler of the Week: Jack Stanley

0

The d3wrestle.com Wrestler of the Week is Jack Stanley of Mount Union. Stanley had an undefeated weekend at the Hilltopper Duals at 125 lbs. to help the Purple Raiders to a 2-2 record. The highlight of the weekend was a 10-5 decision over James Day of Wabash the top-ranked wrestler in the NWCA Central Region Rankings and #8 wrestler in the previous d3wrestle.com Rankings. The win avenged an overtime loss by Stanley to Day in last year’s regional tournament semifinals. Stanley also picked up a forfeit win to go along with falls against West Liberty and Fairmont State.

Stanley, a senior from Brecksville, Ohio, is 12-5 on the season. He came into last weekend ranked 2nd in the Central Region and in the Honorable Mention section of the d3wrestle.com Rankings. He qualified for the NCAA Championships in 2020 while at Baldwin Wallace and in 2022 at Mount Union. Last season, he finished 4th in the Central Region at 125 lbs. His career record is now 89-27. Mount Union is off until January 6th when they will take on Case, Chicago, and NYU as part of the UAA vs. OAC Challenge.
