Northland College to add wrestling

Northland College, a school of just over 500 students in Ashland, Wisconsin, has announced plans to begin men’s and women’s wrestling for the 2025-2026 school year. Adding wrestling will bring the college up to 16 sports. Northland primarily competes in the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference and is currently the only school in the league with a current or planned wrestling program. The search for a head coach will begin shortly.

“We’re in a state of growth as a department. This is an exciting time for Northland College Athletics. The state of Wisconsin, and specifically the Ashland area, has a tremendous amount of talent and support for the sport of wrestling. Adding these sport offerings is a natural fit for us.”
– Executive Director of Intercollegiate Athletics Dan Schumacher
