Season outlook:
With only two seniors lost to graduation, the Purple Raiders are well-situated to defend last year’s OAC title and could even improve on their 8th place finish at the NCAA championships. Replacing All-American Bill Schindel and his team points will be tough, but getting four out of five NCAA qualifiers back in 2011-2012 will surely help. Reynolds and Hesson wrestled great tournaments to place in the top six, while Jenkins and Malave will hope to take that next step and wrestle on the last Saturday of the year. A pair of OAC runners-up in Shadrach and Spooner are aiming one spot higher on the podium to ensure a trip to La Crosse. 2011 d3wrestle.com Coach of the Year Mark Hawald has brought in his usual passel of Ohio state placewinners, and Mount Union looks like a formidable foe in 2012.
