NORTHFIELD, Vt. – Norwich University Director of Athletics Tony Mariano announced this morning that head wrestling coach John Hartupee has stepped down to pursue other career avenues.

“We wish John all the best in this situation,” Mariano said. “He helped the continuing process of building the tradition of Cadets’ wrestling.”

Hartupee took the reins of NU’s wrestling program in 2010-11. Under his tutelage, the Maroon and Gold compiled a combined three dual wins and strong individual efforts in both seasons.

According to Mariano, a search for Hartupee’s successor will begin shortly. He also added that assistant coach Alex Whitney has been named interim head coach during the transition.
