DIII results at Senior Nationals
Ryan Epps (Augsburg) and Brady Kyner (Wartburg) were the top finishers among DIII athletes at the Senior Nationals this past weekend. Epps won a pair of matches to reach the finals at 77kg in Greco-Roman where he fell 2-1 to Alec Ortiz. Kyner finished 3rd at 57kg in freestyle, winning a back and forth 20-17 match against Austin Macias. Former Whitewater wrestler Elroy Perkin had the most wins of any DIII wrestler, picking up five victories on his way to a 5th place finish. He defeated Yahya Thomas, the 3rd place finisher at this year’s NCAA DI Championships, in the 5th place bout. Former Wheaton wrestler Dan Olsen finished in 5th at 87kg in Greco-Roman, pinning Nick Reenan with a big throw in his final match.
On the junior side, Loras freshman Tyler Hannah made the best of three finals at 84kg Greco-Roman but fell two matches to one. Wartburg had four placewinners in junior Greco in David Papach (5th, 77kg), Zak Kozumplik (7th, 77kg), Matthew Doyle (8th, 77kg), and Eli Pannell (4th, 130kg).
