Merry Christmas everyone, and thanks for stopping by. This week, the d3wrestle.com/WWSport.com Wrestler of the Week is Johnson and Wales 174 lb. wrestler Jerome Owens. Competing the in the Desert Duals this past weekend, Owens finished 4-0 as JWU finished 1-3 in Las Vegas. Among those four victories were an 11-3 win over Wartburg’s Grant Jenkins and a 5-3 win over #1 ranked and 2x All-American Kyle Vanderhyde of Olivet. Owens is currently undefeated at 17-0 with eight falls and championships at Ithaca and Roger Williams.
A senior from Kettering, Maryland, Owens recently topped 100 wins for his career at the Roger Williams Invitational. He placed 8th in the NCAA last season at 174 lbs., defeating current #2 Kyle Kehrli of Cornell along the way to All-American honors. He and fellow JWU All-American Bryan Lenhardt will lead the #20 Johnson & Wales team into the second half of the year as they prepare for the 2009 NEWA Championships and NCAA Championships. JWU will next take the mat after Christmas on January 10th at the NWCA National Duals at the University of Northern Iowa in Cedar Falls, Iowa.
I seen this guy wrestle he is what a wrestler supposed to be aggresive domiant and very hard working. We are going to see some amazing things from this guy this year just wait.
