Season outlook:
Olivet put together a nice season last year in winning the Midwest Regional, qualifying two for the NCAA Championships, and bringining home one All-American award. Both All-American James Myers and national qualifier Trevor Tyler are back at 165 and 174, respectively, and they will form the backbone of a strong team. Kenny Richmond and Logan Renas each finished 2nd at the region to just miss a trip to La Crosse. Richmond will move up to 141 where he will be a favorite since Waynesburg’s Garber has graduate. Renas was the top seed at 285 before he was upset by Waynesburg’s Fedorka. Both Renas and Fedorak return to fight it out for the qualifying spot at that weight. That gives Olivet at least four legitimate potential qualifiers without accounting for any improvement from the rest of the lineup, which is very experienced. It’s possible that the Comets could send out a lineup with no freshman and as many as eight juniors and seniors. It should be a good year for the team as they try to have more than two All-Americans for the first time in school history.
