McMurry University, a school of around 1,000 in Abilene, Texas, has announced plans to begin men’s and women’s wrestling for the 2025-2026 season. McMurry will become the second Division III wrestling team in Texas after Schreiner, and the school hopes to join the SLIAC as an affiliate member. SLIAC wrestling currently includes the University of the Ozarks, Schreiner, Westminster, Lyon, Eureka, and Fontbonne, though Fontbonne is set to close at the conclusion of the 2024-2025 school year. McMurray and Schreiner join NAIA schools Texas Wesleyan, Wayland Baptist, and Jarvis Christian as four-year colleges with wrestling in Texas.
