#3 Wartburg at #1 Augsburg Tonight
One of the top rivalry matches in Division III takes place tonight in chilly Minneapolis. #1 Augsburg hosts #3 Wartburg for the right to hoist the Swens-Millboy trophy belt that goes to the winner of this matchup between the only two teams to have won the NCAA team championship since 1995. This is the first meeting of the year between the teams. They were on track to meet as the top two seeds at the NWCA National Duals, but now #2 Johnson & Wales topped Wartburg before falling 20-13 to Augsburg in the finals.
As many as seven weights could feature a pair of top ten ranked individuals, and only heavyweight projects to have two unranked wrestlers face off. Augsburg returns NCAA champions Lucas Jeske at 165 and Ryan Epps at 157, while Wartburg has returning champions in Brock Rathbun at 133 and Cross Cannone at 157 (2018 champ at 149). The winner of the Epps vs. Cannone matchup of returning champions could go a long way toward deciding the winner of the dual. Additionally, Rathbun is set to take on Sam Bennyhoff in a rematch of last year’s NCAA finals at 133.
