Gliva accomplished a unique feat in the storied history of Augsburg’s wrestling program, as he is the only Auggie wrestler ever to earn five All-American honors. He earned two All-American honors his sophomore season, as Augsburg competed in both the NAIA and NCAA Division III national tournaments. In NAIA competition, Gliva finished fifth nationally at 118 pounds in 1982 and 1983, and in NCAA competition, he finished fifth in 1983, second in 1985 and won the national title at 118 in 1984. His junior and senior years, his national finishes also earned him the right to compete at the NCAA Division I national championships. Gliva won MIAC titles in 1982, 1984 and 1985, and was a part of Auggie teams that finished seventh, third, second and ninth in national competition.

He earned Augsburg Honor Athlete honors his senior season, graduating with a pre-chiropractic major and chemistry minor. He went on to graduate from Northwestern Chiropractic College and has owned his own practice, the Farmington Chiropractic Clinic, for the last 10 years. He has remained active in wrestling, as an assistant coach at Farmington High School since 1995 and as a coach with the Farmington youth program for the past five seasons. He and his wife, Kelley, have two sons, Marty and Victor, and live in Farmington, Minn.
