Rick Armstrong wrestled at Cortland from 1976-1979 and won 88 bouts, good for sixth all time at Cortland. In 1978, he became Cortland’s first Division III National Champion when he won the 158 pound weight class. In addition to his championship in 1978, he placed 6th in 1977 and 4th in 1979 on his way to a 27-2-1 senior year record. In 1977 and 1979, Armstrong was the SUNYAC champion. Since 1983, he has been the head wrestling coach at Walton (NY) High School.
