For 2013-2014, d3wrestle.com will also be publishing team tournament rankings based on the individual rankings. Each team will be scored using the following methodology:
12 points for a #1 ranking, 11 for #2 and so on down to 3 for #10
2 points for a Contender
1 point for an Honorable Mention
-1 points for not having a wrestler listed (this will keep teams with one strong individual from appearing too high)
There may be an adding error or two, but we will work to get it sorted out for next time.

Can someone explain to me how thiel moved up in the rankings after getting their ass whooped by mount union and mount is not even ranked?
These rankings are based on the individual rankings as fore mentioned at the top of the post. I think these are more for fun with ranked kids on each team rather than actual who can beat who rankings, you are going to see alot of teams with lower rank, or, as in this case, not even ranked teams beat higher ranked teams with this format.
Format makes no sense… Team rankings are meant to be a predictor for which team would beat another in a dual, not an individual tournament. “Individual tournaments” are named so because they are individually-focused.
wrestlehard,
They are tournament rankings as stated. This is not a new concept. Individual tournaments have team scoring. It’s how we determine the national championship team. Tournament rankings give an idea of where each team sits in relation to that ultimate goal. Your desire to narrowly define the definition of the word rankings doesn’t invalidate what is shown here.
Thank you, D3! I will say that I am just glad that you’re trying your hand at some sort of system (it will improve over time, I’m sure). It’s nice to see Elmhurst back in the rankings where they belong.
Thanks, d3wrestle.com. It’s nice to see these compared to the coaches’ rankings. We are way ahead of where we were 10 years ago in D3 exposure. Thank you. It’s great for our hard-working guys.
i like wat u giys r doing here. plz keep up the good work.. 🙂

As AV said, tournament rankings are not new. Some of the D1 rankings sites, show their team rankings as tournament strength rankings as well. I applaud AV for explaining how he ranks teams, rather than leaving it to coaches poll or some private formula. This formula is as objective as you can get with a subjective ranking.
Both rankings will be fun to watch, you have a team dual rankings (NWCA) and you have a team tournament rankings (D-3) as well as the individual rankings in both, what the problem with that ? We are lucky to have this many people interested in our sport. Can’t we all just get along? P.S. If your team isn’t ranked very high in one ranking you can always look at the other one. 🙂
The idea is also not to compete with the NWCA rankings- which are going to be more of a predictor of who beats who in a dual. This is just a different type of ranking.
