Whitney named freshman of the year in New York

Cortland wrestler Austin Whitney was named Freshman of the Year by the New York State Collegiate Wrestling Coaches Association. Whitney placed 4th at the Northeast Region at 149 lbs. and compiled a 34-9 record on the way to being named Empire Conference Freshman of the Year and earning a place on the d3wrestle.com All-Freshman Team. Whitney becomes the third Red Dragon to win the award after Brian Bistis in 2011 and Mike Bucci in 1996. Read on for the full awards release.
