Season outlook:
The Rhode Island College Anchormen are excited to get underway and start preparing to compete at the national level. The team has a mix of experience and young potential. RIC will be tested by heading to Fort Wayne for the NWCA National Duals. Scholar All-American, national qualifier 125 Jonathan Murray hopes to follow in his brother’s footsteps attempting to earn all-American honors, while nationally ranked Ricondo Cole and high school teammate and national qualifier Shawn Giblin and will compete for a spot on the podium. Sr. Joe Slane came up on the national radar with a win over Fava (AA 3rd), but a nagging injury wouldn’t allow him to get to the regional, and Kyle Lake will provide depth in the middle after a solid freshman campaign; he was battled tested last year facing 5 all-Americans in a three week span at 157. Jonathan Costa has been waiting in the wing behind Silas Murray and has been working toward a breakout year. Add into the mix a transfer from Iowa at heavyweight, Terrance Jean-Jacques who was a national prep runner-up, and Matthew Libby who was a prep all American, the Anchormen have 7 potential qualifiers for Hershey. RIC has some great dark horses in the stable with all-Conference wrestler Brandon Conrad, with Justin Caparco, John Georges, and Imran Gholizadeh filling out the upper weights looking to gain all-Region honors and perhaps punch a ticket to nationals.
