Season outlook:
There have been a lot of changes for the Mount Union wrestling program. Gone are five national qualifiers and a head coach but a new coach, four returning starters and a young energetic squad want to keep the momentum of a program moving forward that has won two-straight Ohio Athletic Conference championships. Bill Schindel was promoted from assistant coach to head coach in the off-season and the three-time All-American for the Purple Raiders assembled a staff, recruited his first class while getting an eager group of returners ready to go. “We are looking to have a great year,” commented Schindel.  “The team is very young, but also excited and very eager to prove themselves.” Leading the group of returners is senior Jeremy Hathaway, junior Lambert McElrath and sophomores Bryant Roby and Jon Garrison.  Hathaway was 13-13 in an injury shortened season a year ago, McElrath was an All-OAC pick with a second place finish at last year’s conference championship, Roby made it to the semifinals at the conference tourney a year ago and Garrison was 17-14 last year splitting time at 157.
