Stevens Preview

2008 NCAA Division III Rookie Coach of the Year Mike Clayton returns for a second season at Stevens after the team’s best year since its rebirth in 2004.  Brandon MacWhinnie placed third at the NCAA championships, and the team paired an 8-4 dual meet record with a third place finish at the Centennial Conference Championships.  Nine starters return, but they will be pushed by the likes of Joey Favia and Ryan Dormann, both freshman younger brothers of current Stevens wrestlers.  Those wrestlers, Centennial runner-up Charles Favia and Leo Dormann, will swap weights this year, as Favia drops to 149 and Dormann moves up to 157.  Justin Galati will also move down from 197 to 184.  Joining Stevens this year as a graduate assistant is Danny Song, a former All-American for the Merchant Marine Academy.  Song has been competing on the freestyle circuit since the conclusion of his college competition.
