Season outlook:
Whitewater adds a very strong recruiting class to a nice group of returning starters, and this is a team that looks to be able to contend for the Midwest Regional title. Grant Sutter joined the roster late last year and ended up 3rd in the nation. He leads a returning crew that also features 2x NCAA qualifier Jake Fredericksen and 2012 qualifier Cade Sarbacker. Some of Whitewater’s wrestlers may return in the second half of the year, so the beginning of the season may be the new wrestlers getting acclimated to college wrestling while some strong returners come back in January. The incoming class is one of the best Whitewater has had with multiple state champs and placewinners along with 2x Junior National runner-up. If the new wrestlers and top returners can all optimally fit in the lineup, the team may improve on 2012, their best season in 20 years.
