Season outlook:
Head coach Jim Gruenwald has put together a very strong recruiting class as he continues to rebuild the Wheaton program. Last year’s team featured only one wrestler who put together a winning season through the entire season. Justin Marble went on to qualify for the NCAA tournament, but he is now on the bench as an assistant coach. The lineup for Wheaton will experience almost a full turnover from a year ago, as a number of talented transfers and state placewinner freshman will be taking over. It is a good group, and the Thunder could fill all ten weight classes for the first time in quite a while. This young group could sneak up on some teams this year, though their best success may be a year or two away.
