Phil Moenkedick, a freshman 174 from Concordia-Moorhead, is the d3wrestle.com Wrestler of the Week. A freshman from Perham, Minnesota, Moenkedick was a Minnesota state finalist before joining the Cobbers this season. In his first season of competition, Moenkedick has rolled to a 31-4 record with 12 falls. Last weekend, he won the North Country Invitational at St. John’s University, defeating Craig Kreman of Wartburg and George Lynaugh of Augsburg along the way to becoming the first Concordia wrestler to top 30 wins in a season since 2005. He also won in Concordia’s 23-19 win over Jamestown CC on Thursday.
This season, Moenkedick has won at the North Country Invitational, the Cobber Open, and the Dragon Open. Moenkedick is back in action with the Cobbers tonight against the University of Mary and Friday against St. Olaf before refocusing for the Great Lakes Regional on February 23rd at St. John’s.
