The first d3wrestle.com/WWSport.com Wrestler of the Week in 2009 is Andy Moore of the University of Wisconsin – La Crosse.  Moore, who wrestles in the 197 lb. weight class, won three matches this past weekend at the North-South Duals against good competition.  Moore, ranked #5, defeated Zach Pizarro of Wilkes, ranked #6 in the latest NWCA rankings, as well as d3wrestle.com Contender Martino Sottile of Cortland and Martin Porter of Delaware Valley.  Moore’s three wins run his record to 14-5 on the year.

A junior from Delafield, Wisconsin, Moore came to La Crosse from Heritage Christian School.  He won 21 matches as a sophomore and 15 as a freshman, but he has come on strong this year and made his way to the #5 spot in the national rankings.  He hopes to make his first trip to the NCAA tournament this year, though he faces an uphill battle with two higher ranked wrestlers at 197 in his own conference.  Moore and the rest of the Eagles will be back in action this weekend at the NWCA National Duals where the team is seeded fifth and will take on the University of Dubuque in the first round.  A win there would likely put them up against 4th ranked Coe.
