Rogers Leaves Lakeland for Purdue

Pete Rogers has resigned as the head coach at Lakeland College after nine seasons to take an assistant position at Purdue. During his time at Lakeland, the program went from barely fielding a full team to a place in the national rankings. See the release from Lakeland in the link below.

RIT All-American Passes Away

Tony Wallace, a three time All-American for RIT, was killed in the line of duty as a police officer Saturday in Alaska. Wallace’s partner, Matt Tokuoka, was also killed. Wallace gradutated from RIT in 2003 and was an All-American in 1998, 2000, and 2002. He was inducted into the RIT Hall of Fame in 2008. Click below to read the article.

Living the Dream Telethon to air tomorrow

The Living the Dream Medal Fund is raising money to provide cash incentives to wrestlers who win medals at the 2012 Summer Olympics in London as well as lesser amounts for medal winners at the 2010 and 2011 World Championships. 2009 medalists Jake Herbert, Dremiel Byers, and Tervel Dlagnev have already won awards through Living the Dream. USA Wrestling and the Living The Dream Medal Fund are pleased to announce the inaugural Living The Dream Telethon on Friday, August 20 at 9 p.m. Eastern. Featured on the webcast will be all 21 U.S. World Team Members and stand-up comic and past NCAA All-American from Missouri, Greg Warren.Greg has been on the stand-up circuit for several years and has been a sensation on Flowrestling with the character Wesley “Wes” Wesley. Peloquin takes over at Eau Claire

We missed this one from earlier this spring, but Russ Peloquin has taken over for Derek Sikora at UW-Eau Claire after spending six seasons as an assistant at the school. Peloquin has also been a graduate assistant at UW-La Crosse and has assisted at Wabash and Lawrence. He was a 2x All-American for UW-La Crosse in 1998 and 1999. In addition to his coaching duties, Peloquin has been an associate lecturer in the Department of Kinesiology at Eau Claire. Sikora was recently announced as the assistant coach at Division II St. Cloud State University.

NWCA Convention and Leadership Academy this weekend

The National Wrestling Coaches Association is hosting its annual convention this weekend in Delray Beach, Florida. In addition, the 2nd College Coaches Leadership Academy will take place the two days before the convention. At least seven Division III head and assistant coaches will be taking part this year after a similar number were a part of the Academy in 2009. See below for the NWCA release about the CCLA.
